Just like last year, I am going to make my best guess about what will win at the Oscars this weekend. I’ll provide commentary for the major categories and then just highlight my predicted winners on the rest of the ballot.
Andrew Rostan was a film student before he realized that making comics was his horrible destiny, but he’s never shaken his love of cinema. Boyhood has been the indie hit of the summer. It has broken out commercially to the tune of $20 million through its first nine weeks of release and received a rare perfect 100 score on the review aggregator Metacritic. After weeks of dithering I finally made time to see the film on Labor Day and can safely say the hype is justified.
